Date Night, Peanut Butter Pancakes, and Pesto

What a wonderful weekend so far! And it is only going to get better from here :)

Date night last night for dinner.... Chicken Parm... mmMMmm

Made a quick stop at JoAnn's, found {and photo documented thanks to my sweet husband} the cutest fabric for a summer table cloth, I think, and will be returning soon with a coupon :)

I thought these wonderful peanut butter pancakes would be perfect for breakfast in bed this morning

Ran errands this morning, stopped at a garage sale, and updated our DVD collection with these titles for a mere dollar a piece... woohoo!

For lunch we went simple with sandwiches, but to add a yummy kick, I tried the basil pesto recipe from this month's Southern Living, which was SO simple and put some of this basil to good use!

The recipe can be found right here and it was SO easy! I can't wait to try using some of our mint to make mint pesto, sounds interesting? Or maybe some pizza dough to use our pesto sauce on?

Off to the pool! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful summer weekend! :)

To Paint or Not To Paint

We have gone back and forth trying to decide if we want to paint our apartment. If we do, we will Linkhave to repaint it to eggshell before we move out, if we don't, we will have all eggshell walls :/

We have decided to try an accent wall.
I LOVED this cross-hatching idea in the last pottery barn catalog to add texture to the wall.

I have tried googling more information on technique and tricks, but there isn't much info out there on it, that I could find.

Do any of you have any tricks or have you tried it or know of someone who has?
I REALLY want to just go for it, but am scared it won't turn out

Any advice? :)

The Beauty of A Tablescape

While I have always loved looking at wedding pictures, it seems odd now that my wedding has passed to keep doing it.

I just love to see how brides mix colors, and flowers, and centerpieces.... the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it is really the tablescapes of the wedding I love most. All of the little details of the centerpieces and place settings, how you can tell a story and show your personality in the details and use of color... is just wonderful to me :)

I loved how the tables at our wedding turned out.
The navy blue and white toile runners and toppers with the antipasto and dogwood blooms.
With the simplicity of navy and white brought to life by the color in the meal and the apple green accents.

Yes, I love tablescapes :)

I am so excited that after working tonight I get almost a whole week off until my next shift next Wednesday!

Giving me a much needed time to step back and prioritize my time and pretty much life in general :P

Two Months :)

Two months ago was our wedding day.

Our lives have been a wonderful blessing of a roller coaster since then. It seems like time has flown by, yet so much has happened at the same time!

He is wonderful, and continues to direct my eyes and steps towards the Lord everyday.
To me, there is nothing greater a husband could do.

To celebrate, I pretty much turned everything in our fridge and pantry into a fajita topping, and we celebrated, with our very own fiesta :)

Adios amigos! :)

Pillows!

Another labor day sale purchase was this boudoir pillow cover for our bed :)

(the pillow form is still needed)
(and I know the monogram is backwards, I just like how DSS looks much better than SSD :P)

On top of that I have been busy looking online and in store for some fabric to cover these throw pillows with for our living room

(Peyton WOULD NOT move, and really, who would rather see old pillows than a cute puppy?)

AND if I have time before school starts in the fall I would REALLY like to try to reupholster our chair with this fabric!

I have been looking for free pillow cover patterns/directions online, I know there is not much to them, but I would like to work with directions and be safe rather than sorry!

From Amy Butler Design (pdf)

And then there is the envelope pillow cover, shown in wonderful detail

here

and here :)

My resources are plentiful, I just need to pick the fabric and DO it!

Happy Tuesday!

A {not so healthy} Victory in the Kitchen!

The Chicken pot pie was a success! I need to work on the aesthetics, but I'm the only one that mattered to, so no worries :)

{reminder: I made the top out of biscuits, not pie crust, causing the oddly textured top}

I give the recipe an A+.
It was very easy and tasty

Healthy not so much, but better luck with that next meal :)
